What is the UAE Transit Visa?

UAE Transit Visa is a short-term visa that is given to the travellers who have a stopover in the UAE and have to go out of the airport for a short time. For passengers travelling through Dubai or other emirates and wishing to explore the city or take a rest before continuing their journey, it is perfect. Transit visas are available in the UAE for 48 hours and 96 hours, and the duration of your layover will determine which one you will receive. The visas are non-extendable and have to be acquired prior to departure.

Who Needs a UAE Transit Visa?

List of requirements or Travellers who must have a UAE Transit Visa to exit out from airport for short visit:

• If you have more than 8 hours layover in the UAE or Dubai airport.
• Traveller who wants to leave the airport during their transit period.
• Transit visa for those who do not qualify for visa free entry or visa on arrival in the UAE.
• Traveling through UAE airports with a confirmed onward ticket to a third destination.

Some nationalities are exempt from a visa for transit if they are eligible for visa on arrival. Before traveling, it is suggested to check the visa requirements according to your nationality.

Validity of UAE Transit Visa

There are two durations of a UAE Transit Visa available:

• 48 hour valid Transit Visa: This visa is valid for 2 days from the date of entry and the visa should be used within 14 days of issuance.
• 96 hour valid Transit Visa: This valid for 4 days within which to use from date of entry, 14 days from date of issue.

Note: These visas can’t be extended and once expired, the traveller has to exit the country to avoid penalties.
